Why WiFi struggles in desert homes

Many homes here are long single-story layouts built with block and stucco, often with a casita or detached garage. Masonry walls absorb WiFi signal, so one router at one end of the house rarely covers the other end, let alone the backyard. Speed tests at the router look fine while the bedroom on the far side gets almost nothing.

We measure the signal room by room, then fix it the simplest way that works: moving the router, changing channels and settings, adding a mesh system, or running a wired access point to the casita. You get one network name everywhere, a strong password, and a written note of the settings.

Router and mesh WiFi installation

We set up new routers and mesh systems from start to finish: placement, a secure network name and password, firmware updates, a guest network, and reconnecting every phone, TV, printer and camera in the house. If you are buying new equipment, we'll recommend what fits the size of your home so you don't overspend.

Internet provider equipment

We set up and troubleshoot the equipment your provider gives you, and tell you plainly when the problem is the service itself rather than your home network, so you know exactly what to say when you call them.

What customers say

  • Trevor helped us set up a complicated 4-monitor array, installed a Google point for our home WIFI, wiped a PC laptop clean, and disposed of an old tower for us. He was professional, polite, very helpful, and communicative. An all-around nice guy! His services are reasonably priced. We highly recommend him!

Common questions

Why is my WiFi so slow all of a sudden?

Common causes are a router that needs restarting or updating, interference from neighbors' networks, a new device using a lot of bandwidth, or a problem with your internet service. If it is slow only in some rooms, the cause is usually distance and walls.

Why is my WiFi bad in some rooms?

Usually because of distance from the router and walls in between. Block and stucco walls, common in Arizona homes, weaken WiFi a lot. A better router position or a mesh WiFi system normally fixes it.

Do I need a mesh WiFi system?

Not always. In larger single-story homes, or homes with a casita or detached garage, mesh is often the most reliable fix. We test first and only recommend it if it is needed.

Do you offer router installation service at home?

Yes. We install and configure new routers and mesh systems at your home and reconnect all of your devices.

Do you work with Starlink?

Yes. We set up Starlink and other satellite and fixed wireless service, which is common in Rio Verde and other homes outside town.
